News for the Games
Dear Senior Athlete:
The 2009 Summer National Senior Games presented by Humana is now history, with many new national and world records, a great many personal best achievements, and some very spectacular activities. If you were there, you surely felt the enthusiasm and energy – to see so many athletes at the top of their game was truly inspiring.
You also may have seen the extra enthusiasm at the 23andMe booth, where nearly 5,000 Senior Games athletes signed up to be a part of a groundbreaking nationwide study on genetics and healthy aging. Participants received a Full Edition of the 23andMe Personal Genome Service, an online account to explore genetics relating to their personal health and ancestry.
Thanks to our continued partnership, 23andMe is offering the same service to all senior athletes at all levels, at a special discount of $50 off the Full Edition Personal Genome Service price (retail $399). Even more special – for each kit purchased, 23andMe will donate $20 to your NSGA Foundation, the National Center for Senior Health and Fitness (NCSHF).
This offer is only available to senior athletes, and only for the first 10,000 kits purchased. It will help support many important NCSHF activities, including development of grassroots fitness programs for seniors.
What can you learn from participating in the Senior Games Genome Project? All kinds of things about your personal health – and your family’s health, too. You can see whether you have a tendency toward certain health risks , like vision loss, prostate cancer (e.g., I learned I have a tendency toward pulmonary embolism – yikes! But good to know), or whether some medications may work better for you than others. You can even trace your ancestral history back hundreds of years.
I urge you to try the 23andMe Full Edition – it could change your life. Participation is totally private -- you will be the only one with individual access to your DNA information.
You will become part of the largest group ever to access their personal genetic history – the Senior Games Genome Project. At the same time, you’ll be helping the NSGA and NCSHF in our mission to promote senior health and fitness. This offer is only available until October 15, 2009.

Thank you for your ongoing support. Long live the challenge!
Aloha,
