David D. Hurford Memorial Fund

Thanks to the generosity of the David D. Hurford family of California the David D. Hurford Memorial Fund has been endowed through the NSGA Foundation. The purpose of this fund is to provide benefits from the net earnings of the Fund to selected qualified athletes, who can demonstrate hardship in paying fees and expenses such as transportation and housing to attend the NSGA Summer National Senior Games – The Senior Olympics.

Every other year the Foundation Trustees attempt to find one male and one female athlete to become the beneficiaries of this fund for the Summer National Senior Games - The Senior Olympics. Each State Coordinator is asked to submit to the Foundation the names of any male or female qualified athlete, who they feel wishes to come to the National Summer Games, but would not be able to participate without financial assistance. Beneficiaries are selected from these submissions.

The financial assistance to be provided to each athlete is currently:

    * Registration Fees
    * On-site housing for up to four nights
    * $500 towards transportation or other expenses
